Same-sex intimate unions

Moore Theological College Principal, Dr Mark Thompson, has written a very helpful piece to aid Christians in their thinking and discourse in the current debate around same-sex marriage.
He writes, “… Christian teaching about homosexuality does not simply rely on five isolated, condemnatory biblical texts — ‘five uneasy pieces’ from Genesis 19, Leviticus 18–20, Romans 1, 1 Corinthians 6 and 1 Timothy 1. It is anchored in a far richer biblical theology of human relationships that begins in creation and ends in the consummation of all things.”
It’s a long and important post, in which he looks at –
The critical nature of the current debate
The framework for a Christian discussion of marriage and sex
The specific references to homosexual behaviour in outline
The challenge of same-sex intimate unions
The ongoing problem of a campaign against dissent
and Some helpful further reading.
Just published in the ThinkTank Blog section of the Moore College website.
And as a 200kb PDF file.
It’s also being serialised at Theological Theology, because, as the author notes, “the entire thing might seem a little daunting to read in one sitting”.
Part 1. Part 2. Part 3. Part 4. Part 5.
Mark writes, “My hope and prayer is that this will be useful to God’s people as we work out how to live as faithful disciples of Christ at this moment in human history.”
