“On Sunday do you look out over the pews and see an audience or an army? The answer to that question will determine your priorities, your effectiveness, even your health. An audience needs constant performance and is full of individuals making demands of you.  All an army needs is a leader and it can accomplish great things.

For the past 15 years I have worked on equipping ministers to be trainers. Training fellow ministers. Full-time ministers of the gospel. Now, I want to turn to the other half of the equation and use that knowledge and skill to help ministers harness the hidden army. Recruiting and training and mobilising our congregations. I am convinced that the training ministry is just as important as the preaching ministry. If there is no training ministry, the Word does not go beyond the pews.

Connect09 has challenged us to put our churches on a mission footing. The burden will fall on you unless you take action! 

In the pioneering work we have done at MTS I have developed various workshops and resources on ministry training and MTS has now freed me up to offer these more widely.  My preference is not to run big conferences but to meet in smaller groups and build relationships where we can help each other implement the training that is needed. It’s time intensive but I love it. I hope you will appreciate the no no-nonsense, practical approach.

Who should come? All ministers, apprentices and lay leaders. Bring your ministry team.

What if I’ve already done the Art of Ministry Training course? The workshops (above) will help you actually implement the training.

Will this training work in any church, not just large churches with lots of young leaders? Yes, the workshops are designed for all types of congregations.

Where will the workshops be held? Scots Presbyterian Church, Margaret Street, Sydney.

Would it be possible for these workshops to be conducted in our local church? Yes, please contact me to discuss the possibilities.

What are the costs? MTS will need to recoup costs, but we don’t want the price point to stop anyone. Some concessions are available, especially for ministry teams. See the registration form (PDF) for details.
