Crossway reverses decision to make ESV Bible Text permanent

‘We have become convinced that this decision was a mistake,’ stated Crossway president and CEO Lane Dennis in an announcement released today. ‘We apologize for this and for any concern this has caused for readers of the ESV, and we want to explain what we now believe to be the way forward. Our desire, above all, is to do what is right before the Lord.’…”

Ninth Bishop of New Westminster elected

Melissa SkeltonCanon Melissa Skelton has been elected the Ninth Bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster.

She is currently the Rector of an “urban, progressive Anglo-Catholic parish” in Seattle in the Episcopal Church of the USA. Earlier, she served as Vice President for Administration at the General Theological Seminary in New York.

Edith Schaeffer 1914–2013

Edith & Frances Schaeffer -- via Challies.comTim Challies reports that Edith Schaeffer has died at the age of 98.

“In 1948 the Independent Board for Presbyterian Foreign Missions sent the Schaeffers to Switzerland as missionaries.

In 1955, after… withdrawing from that organization, they decided to simply open up their home and make it available as a place to demonstrate God’s love and provide a forum for discussing God and the meaning of life. They called it L’Abri after the French word for “shelter.’”

New Presbyterian denomination in US

The Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians is a new body formed out of the increasingly-liberal Presbyterian Church of the USA (not to be confused with the PCA, to which Redeemer in NY belongs).
