News from The Bible Society of NSW –
At the invitation of the Right Reverend Dr Peter Brain, Bishop of the Armidale Anglican Diocese, Karl Faase and Martin Johnson spoke this week at four meetings across the Diocese to promote interest in a regional ‘Jesus. All about life’ (JAAL) campaign.
“With ‘Jesus. All about life’ set to run in Sydney from September this year, we believed there was a great opportunity for churches in regional areas of the state to run a local campaign at the same time,” said Karl Faase.
Meetings were held in Tamworth, Moree, Inverell and Armidale with over fifty people attending in total. At each meeting, Bishop Brain supported the idea of a local campaign to run across the region.
“The Sydney campaign will generate a lot of interest and comment in Sydney,” said Karl. “Regional areas will read and hear about the Sydney campaign and by running their own, they will be able to capitalise on what is happening in Sydney and make an impact for the Gospel in their local community,” Karl said.
Whilst no decision has yet been made, there was strong support for a campaign to run across the Diocese.
“We will need to look at how we coordinate churches across such a large area,” said Bishop Brain, “however to vote against Bible Society and the JAAL campaign would be like voting against motherhood,” he said.
Bible Society is also keen to talk to church leaders in other regional areas of NSW to help them consider running a local campaign at the same time as Sydney.
